“Why isn’t there a club for people who love electronic music?”
That’s the question that sparked the entire idea behind SoundLab Nijmegen. With all these existing study associations why wasn’t there one for electronic music in the Netherlands, especially when it’s so popular among students?
With this thought in mind, Christijn Winkelmolen and Lisa Harbers first came together in November 2018 to draft the initial plans for SoundLab. In the summer of 2019, Noud Emonts and Jochem Olshoorn joined as additional support, forming the first board of SoundLab together. After a period of hard work, numerous ideas, and countless meetings, the Kick-off event took place in a packed “het Alternatief” in November 2019. It quickly became clear that there was significant demand for a club like this, and two months later, on January 30, 2020, SoundLab was officially established.
